Former WWE star Shane “The Hurricane” Helms is the latest guest to appear on The JBL and Cole Show, the podcast for 2/3 of WWE’s Smackdown announce team. Although this show is run independently from WWE, it’s still interesting that Helms agreed to appear on the show, considering he completely burned the bridges with WWE after he left a few years ago. Former WWE diva and current ROH personality Maria Kanellis recently wrapped up work on a film called Army of the Damned. She’s slated for another film in 2014 called A Bet’s A Bet, and will also appear later this year in Manos 2: The Search for Valley Lodge, co-starring with former WWE wrestler Gene Snitsky. This is a sequel to Manos: The Hands of Fate, which is considered by many to be the worst film of all time. Hall of Famer Ric Flair recently made his first appearance at an independent wrestling show in quite some time, along with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express for a promotion in the state of Georgia. Flair appeared before the crowd, but did not have a match or even do an interview. Randy Orton did an interview with IGN. com recently, and when asked about fellow 3rd-generation wrestlers, he had the following to say: “Bray’s vignettes are awesome. And the other two guys down there in FCW, who are part of his team, are talented. That little group there looks great. I have no idea what we’re in for but those vignettes have everyone’s heads turning backstage. And wrestling is in Bray’s blood. He’s the son of Mike Rotunda – I. R. S. But Curtis Axel is third generation too. And so I think there’s been a lot of pressure on Joe [Hennig] just being the son of “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig. I mean, how can there not be a lot of pressure? No disrespect to my father, but Mr. Perfect was around a little more and maybe had more of a following. So people might be more aware of who his father was and because of that I think he has a lot more to live up to. And that whole “Michael McGillicutty” thing? That was just career suicide. But he made it through that. And I think anyone who can make it through having a name like “McGillicutty” for however many years he had it is a survivor. The fact that he made it through shows you that the kid’s got some staying power. And now with Paul Heyman in his back pocket? He’s golden. Give him a couple weeks, a couple months, and he’ll make a big impact. ”Stephanie McMahon recently tweeted a picture of the brand new NXT Women’s Championship belt. The photo can be found on Stephanie’s feed or by using an online search. WWE. com recently posted a list of the ten most ridiculous rivalries in wrestling. Hulk Hogan vs. The Dungeon of Doom from WCW was number one on the list. Former NXT star Derrick Bateman recently did an interview with Inside the Ropes, and had the following to say in regards to his recent release: “Yeah, it was something like [creative has nothing for me]. I don’t really have a reason per say. But then again it’s not anything that I was surprised about. I think it was the best thing for me. I was in a bad place mentally, physically. I need a break and they need a break from me so we’ll see what happens. ”
